Benvenuta a Roma
The ideal introduction to the Eternal City
Itinerary
Day 1 - A friendly roman welcome from our local representative and a pleasant transfer to your centrally located hotel in the "Eternal City". You may wish a little settling in time before sampling some Italian fare at a local Trattoria. If rested and wishing to embrace Rome immediately, optional tours can be organised from our large selection. (An additional cost).
Day 2 - Following breakfast you depart for your Grand Tour of Rome (3 hours of "Ancient Rome" walking tour - Colloseum / Forum and 2 hours small coach "Monuments of Rome"). This combined tour is a great introduction and provides exposure to the city - past and present. Our specialist guide will share with you many of Rome's essential sights including the Spanish Steps, the famous Trevi Fountain, the ancient Forum and Colloseum, Marcus Aurelius' Column and the Pantheon. Marvel as you enter this ancient temple which has been in continuous use since its reconstruction in 125AD.
You may use the afternoon for your own exploration or leisure or take the optional afternoon tour of the Villa Borghese and gardens (see left).
Breakfast Included.
Day 3 - Today is an early breakfast before departing for the Vatican City Tour. This marvellous guided tour includes the Sistine Chapel and the Vatican Museums. There is nothing to match these historic wonders and an early start is essential to maximise the time spent admiring the treasures of the vast galleries.
Remember: Visitors in shorts, short skirts or sleeveless garments will not be admitted into churches.
Breakfast Included.
Day 4 - After today's breakfast you embark on the fascinating walking tour of "Catacombs and Underground Rome". For years archaeoligists have been exploring the protected regions of Rome's subterranean secrets. Drive to the Appian Way and descend below the basilica into these significant places believed to be the first of their type in Rome.
End the underground journey with a visit to the Mamertine Prisons, Rome's oldest prison, where according to Christian tradition, Saints Peter and Paul were held prisoners.
The tour finishes at Piazza Venezia only a couple of minutes walking from the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain.
Breakfast Included.
Day 5 - Following breakfast we say Ciao as you continue to your next adventure.
Breakfast Included.
